Introducing… The Khaleesi Chronicles

This feels a little nerve-wracking to share, but here goes. I’ve been quietly working on a creative project for the past several months — something that started as a “just for fun” experiment and turned into a little obsession. I’ve been making notebooks. Lots of them.

The inspiration came from my gorgeous, regal, bossy, demanding, sweet, and funny Ragdoll cat, Khaleesi. She has a lot of personality (to put it mildly), and somewhere between her constant supervision of my work-from-home setup and her habit of posing like royalty, I got the idea that she deserved her own book covers. Enter: The Khaleesi Chronicles.

A great friend at work first told me about Amazon KDP — how you can self-publish books and sell them directly through Amazon. It sounded like the perfect creative outlet for me. I thought, Why not try it? Maybe I’d sell a few, maybe I’d just have some beautiful notebooks to give as gifts. At the very least, it would be a fun project. And who knows, maybe someday these little books will help me chip away at college tuition bills for my kids… or maybe even retire before I’m 90.

I’ll admit, the very first couple of designs were made purely to amuse my kids — but this quickly became something more. It’s been so refreshing to have a creative outlet that isn’t for work, isn’t for parenting, and doesn’t have a deadline. It’s just mine. And honestly, it feels really good to have a hobby that also feels productive. Designing each cover, choosing colors, and thinking through how people might use these notebooks has become its own kind of joy.

Now that I’ve made quite a few, I wanted to share them here for the first time. The cover photos above are just a glimpse — there are more designs in my Amazon store, each part of the Scribble & Sketch series: half-lined, half-blank notebooks for jotting down words, doodles, grocery lists or whatever you are inspired to record.

I know they are 'unique' and maybe even a little goofy (although Khaleesi would certainly tell you they are flawless), but I will say they’ve brought me a lot of joy to create. If you’re looking for a creative little notebook for yourself, a gift, or just want to see more of Khaleesi’s many “roles,” you can check out the whole collection here on my Steady Sprint Studios Author’s Page. (The idea of having my own Author’s Page is really exciting, even though I’m not winning any Pulitzers this time around…)

If there’s a theme or style you’d love to see, I’d be happy to try making a more custom notebook. I’m always open to ideas!

Thanks for letting me share something that’s been quietly bringing me happiness.
