Introducing the College Clarity Series
At the beginning of the summer, I started working on a college guidebook — not for anyone else, just for my kids and me to use. We’ve been touring schools and taking copious notes everywhere we go, because everything blends together so quickly. I tried looking for college planners or tools to keep us organized, but nothing felt quite right. So, I started drafting one the way I wanted it.
And it… evolved.
So many friends with younger kids have said, “Write it all down for when I need to do this!” So I did. Remember that Amazon KDP project I mentioned a few months ago? That little experiment that started with notebooks has now turned into something more: The College Clarity Series.
I figured while I’m doing all this research and trying to absolutely kill this process for my own kids, I might as well share what I’ve learned and what’s working for us. I started by writing a straightforward guidebook — basically an outline for myself — but then realized how helpful it would be to have one place to keep all my notes about each school, all the visits, and later on, all the application details and decisions.
That’s how the series came together:
College Clarity Guidebook – A clear, encouraging overview to walk you through the entire process, from the very first search to the final choice.
Search & Selection Guided Planner – A guided workbook to brainstorm options, plan and track college visits, and reflect on everything you learn along the way.
Application to Decision Guided Planner – A structured system to keep applications organized, track responses, compare offers, and make decisions with confidence.
For us, this structure has been a lifesaver — a way to take what could feel like chaos and turn it into something manageable, even empowering. And now it’s out there for other families navigating the same whirlwind.
What started as a DIY tool for my own kids is now a series that I hope other parents and students can use too. This process is intense, but with the right tools, it’s absolutely doable - and can even be fun!
If you’re a parent about to dive into this college search season — or just curious about what’s ahead — I’d love to hear from you. What worries you most? What are you excited about? Drop a comment or send me a message.
